Track & Trace systems have long helped reduce waste — from excess materials and unnecessary transport to wasted time and overproduction. That thinking is already part of how we work. And as Europe rethinks packaging, we are applying the same principle to the way we pack and ship our own products.
PPWR and the Future of Packaging
The EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is designed to reduce packaging waste and keep packaging materials in use for longer. It introduces new requirements for packaging across the EU, with a greater focus on waste prevention, reuse, recyclability and recycled content.
For us, the direction is a natural fit: use what is already available, avoid unnecessary packaging and choose recycled materials where we can.
What This Means for Our Shipments
From August 2026 onwards, the change may be visible in our shipments: where suitable, we have opted to reuse packaging rather than replace it simply because it has already made one journey.
- Reused cardboard: A box may show signs of its previous journey, including tape or markings from another company. That simply means we are giving suitable packaging another use.
- Less branding on new boxes: We are moving away from Turck Vilant branded tape and using plain tape instead, making it easier for others to reuse our boxes. If identifying a Turck Vilant shipment from the outside is important to you, we are happy to provide stickers for this purpose. Please contact marketing@turckvilant.com.
- Reused filling material: We do not buy new filling material for our shipments. Instead, we reuse suitable filling material that arrives with deliveries to us, keeping it in use for another journey.
These are small changes in how we ship, but they follow the same principle we bring to Track & Trace: reduce waste where we can and make better use of what is already there.
